Wheel Manufacturer “FORMULA 43” Announcement (Livonia, MI)-Feb. 1st 2010.

Centrally located in the heart of American automotive manufacturing, “FORMULA 43” specializing in 3-piece and mono-block forged wheels, engineered for pro-racing and exotic sports cars, has been established after many years of research and development.

The name was developed by Ralf Guennewig as a specific “Spin-Form” method for 2 & 3-piece modular wheel rim-halves. The number “4” is the rollers used on the German spinning machine used to form the rim barrel from a round flat sheet of T-6061 aluminum.  The number “3” is the process of (1) spinning the part, (2) heat treating/aging and (3) the calibration process.  This exclusive process is known as, “FORMULA 43”

“To develop our new company with Travis Johnson is a great new opportunity for both of us.  I’m excited to be involved first hand in the wheel industry.  Travis and I believe that our manufacturing methods, engineering, testing and certainly customer service will enable Formula 43 to set a standard in which our competitors will not be able to keep pace” says company President Ralf Guennewig.

Completing a lengthy research and development process Formula 43 will readily have available 18” and 19” 3-piece modular wheels in four new modern designs.  Also, 20” 3-piece and 1-Piece mono-block wheels are currently in development with a planned launch for summer, 2010.

“We both had many ideas on wheel design and manufacturing methods from both working in the automotive wheel industry for many years.  Taking these ideas and putting them on a clean sheet of paper, we’ve created a company that really has something new to bring to the marketplace” states Sales Manager Travis Johnson.

Located in the Detroit area Formula 43 has access to the highest level of OEM vendors in North America.  “After researching and meeting with local vendors for heat treating and finishing processes, we were very impressed at what the region has to offer for our wheels” states Johnson.  “Detroit is definitely still the world headquarters for producing cars and trucks, I really can’t think of a better area for us to be located for our sales and manufacturing headquarters” says Johnson.

Formula 43 is one of the few wheel companies in North America to fully produce modular rim halves in house along with CNC turning and milling operations of the rotary forged center section.  Along with “Spin Form” technology, Formula 43 also has various flow forming methods available as well.

“Formula 43 has a broad base of technology to offer not only for aftermarket wheels, but also for OEM development work and special projects for either street or racing applications.  We also have experience in flow forming one piece wheels in forged aluminum and magnesium” say Guennewig.
