New Website, Motorhead Garage Spot, and whats new for 2012!

We hope you’ve had a chance to look around the new website and learn a little more about Formula 43.  In addition to wheel descriptions, the gallery page, a zoom feature to see our wheels upclose, and this new Blog we’ve added our video to the site on the Technology page.  This can also be seen on our YouTube page, which most recently, includes our interview with Motorhead Garage’s very own, Dave Bowman. This episode was taped at the PRI show in Orlando, FL in December and first aired on December 25th. If you haven’t had a chance to catch the episode- click here to watch it: http://youtu.be/ZLzsCr0ejug

We were excited to take part in this major industry trade show and look forward to exhibiting again this year!

2012 has already started out to be a busy year-  We’ve expanded our product line in the last few months and plan on continuing product development and attending more races and events in the industry.  Most recently we attended the 24 Hrs at Daytona, and the PCA 48 Hrs. at Sebring.  We’ve developed a Centerlock application and have added spoke sculpting to our RAD 10 Renn Series and Club Sport, as well as the RAD 05 for both 18″ & 19″. This not only provides a fresh look, but also reduces the overall wheel weight.  We’ll be posting photos of these new styles to the website soon.   We’re excited for the new year and look forward meeting new fans and introducing you to Formula 43!

For Immediate Release “Formula 43” RENN10 Pro Race Wheel Livonia, MI May 18th, 2011

The Formula 43 team known in the racing world for developing superior wheels for the most demanding race environments announces the RENN10 Pro Race wheel.  After spending the last year designing the RAD series of wheels and developing in house production capabilities including its own “Spin-Form” process of manufacturing high strength modular rim halves, Formula 43 introduces the latest in modular wheel technology and design for Pro Racing.

The RENN10 features a ten radial spoke design.  “Each spoke is aligned with an opposing spoke and each lug pocket is lined up with a spoke.  The linear alignment gives the wheel superior strength and minimal deflection,” states Travis Johnson Sales Manager for Formula 43.

Formula 43 achieved an equal balance of maximum strength and minimal weight with its modular 18” RENN10 wheel design.  “During testing of the RAD series of wheels, we far exceeded expectations on strength and observed minimal deflection in the spokes and inner rim while under loads of +3000lbs.  With additional FEA analysis, we created the RENN10 specifically for Pro Race teams in Grand-AM, ALMS and the Speed World Challenge series,” says company President Ralf Guennewig.

The Formula 43 18” wheel passed Motorsport Test Loads at an independent testing facility.  “Normally a wheel manufacturer is able to submit a new wheel for each test.  We submitted one wheel to endure radial fatigue, rotary fatigue and impact testing on both the outer and inner rim,” states Guennewig.

RENN10 Features & Benefits:

-AL6061-T6 Forged Center Sections for superior strength and minimal deflection

-Detail CNC machining of the center section with enhanced lightening pockets and chamfered spokes

-Formula 43 “Spin-Form” AL6061-T6 rim halves for increased stiffness and minimal weight

-Formula 43 inner rims are 2.0lbs lighter than other US modular wheel suppliers

-Larger lug pockets for quicker wheel removal during pit stops

-Precision roll form threads with military aircraft grade fasteners

-Quick development times with engineering and manufacturing located in Livonia, MI USA

“Countless hours of design, engineering and programming paid off with an exceptional wheel for today’s Pro Race Teams,” says Johnson.

PRESS RELEASE March 3, 2011

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE “FORMULA 43” Detroit Autorama (Livonia, MI) March 3, 2011.

After a year long development process, the Formula 43 team, located outside of Detroit, debuts its “RAD” (German for Wheel) series of wheels at the annual Detroit Autorama Show.

“We’re proud to have the opportunity to display our new line of wheels and ultimately build our first sets for Mark Steilow’s “Red Devil” 1969 Camaro and Gordon Rojewski’s 1987 Pontiac Formula Firebird.  Both cars are absolutely stunning with the Formula 43 wheels,” states sales manager Travis Johnson.

Both applications required special development due to the unique features both cars have.  Steilow’s Camaro has a mini tub in the rear for a much wider tire and wheel, Corvette front suspension and large Brembo brakes.  Rojewski’s Firebird features Brembo brakes, Baer hubs/spindles and modern suspension.

“Stielow’s and Rojewski’s cars are built to the highest level possible.  Every detail of the cars are flawless and uses the highest quality of parts and accessories.  The Formula 43 wheels certainly have the same level of quality and performance both applications are looking for,” says Johnson.

Formula 43 Press Release (see attached file for pdf)

Wheel Manufacturer “FORMULA 43” Announcement (Livonia, MI)-Feb. 1st 2010.

Centrally located in the heart of American automotive manufacturing, “FORMULA 43” specializing in 3-piece and mono-block forged wheels, engineered for pro-racing and exotic sports cars, has been established after many years of research and development.

The name was developed by Ralf Guennewig as a specific “Spin-Form” method for 2 & 3-piece modular wheel rim-halves. The number “4” is the rollers used on the German spinning machine used to form the rim barrel from a round flat sheet of T-6061 aluminum.  The number “3” is the process of (1) spinning the part, (2) heat treating/aging and (3) the calibration process.  This exclusive process is known as, “FORMULA 43”

“To develop our new company with Travis Johnson is a great new opportunity for both of us.  I’m excited to be involved first hand in the wheel industry.  Travis and I believe that our manufacturing methods, engineering, testing and certainly customer service will enable Formula 43 to set a standard in which our competitors will not be able to keep pace” says company President Ralf Guennewig.

Completing a lengthy research and development process Formula 43 will readily have available 18” and 19” 3-piece modular wheels in four new modern designs.  Also, 20” 3-piece and 1-Piece mono-block wheels are currently in development with a planned launch for summer, 2010.

“We both had many ideas on wheel design and manufacturing methods from both working in the automotive wheel industry for many years.  Taking these ideas and putting them on a clean sheet of paper, we’ve created a company that really has something new to bring to the marketplace” states Sales Manager Travis Johnson.

Located in the Detroit area Formula 43 has access to the highest level of OEM vendors in North America.  “After researching and meeting with local vendors for heat treating and finishing processes, we were very impressed at what the region has to offer for our wheels” states Johnson.  “Detroit is definitely still the world headquarters for producing cars and trucks, I really can’t think of a better area for us to be located for our sales and manufacturing headquarters” says Johnson.

Formula 43 is one of the few wheel companies in North America to fully produce modular rim halves in house along with CNC turning and milling operations of the rotary forged center section.  Along with “Spin Form” technology, Formula 43 also has various flow forming methods available as well.

“Formula 43 has a broad base of technology to offer not only for aftermarket wheels, but also for OEM development work and special projects for either street or racing applications.  We also have experience in flow forming one piece wheels in forged aluminum and magnesium” say Guennewig.
